Improve hand hygiene among healthcare professionals
Is your healthcare facility having difficulty training to proficiency in the WHO hand hygiene technique? Or are you looking for a more innovative approach to learning? SureWash helps you address these issues and meet the needs of healthcare workers busy work schedules. We deliver quality assessment-based hand hygiene training and IPC education around the clock.
Validated Hand Hygiene & IPC Training
The WHO technique is not only difficult to teach, but also learn. As it is a psychomotor skill, learning is best delivered through short sessions over time. Multiple studies have shown that this “practice-rest-repeat’ method is the most effective way to build muscle memory. For instance, a study conducted at Yale Medical School using the SureWash GO examined the amount of training required to reach proficiency. It found that over a five-day period, users take on average 32 hand hygiene training sessions or a total of 23 minutes’ training to develop the skill. Participants were proficient when they could complete the six-step WHO technique in under 42 seconds. Therefore, SureWash is focused on delivering training which builds a habit and engages professionals in a positive learning experience.
Gamified learning, making training fun, interactive and engaging
Repetition of the technique is critical to learning. Therefore, gamification has been used to make SureWash training fun and engaging. It also enables training to be shifted from the classroom setting into the work environment. These elements combine to encourage repeated training and education among healthcare workers. SureWash divides hand hygiene learning into a series of levels, each with a challenge. At the beginning there are lots of prompts and plenty of time to complete each of the six poses. As the learner moves through the levels, there are less prompts and the time to complete each pose is shorter. In the final step, the learner must repeat the technique from memory and the SureWash unit will assess proficiency.
Train and educate patients and visitors in hand hygiene and infection control
However, SureWash does not only provide training to healthcare employees. SureWash can also be used to train patients and visitors. Engaging this cohort in the importance of hand hygiene helps to reduce the spread of infections and improve patient outcomes. Subsequently, SureWash devices can be placed anywhere throughout a facility as a promotional tool to encourage engagement in hand hygiene. In addition, the SureWash APP can also support this learning, with training being available from a mobile device. Rather than following instructions on a poster, learning the technique can be interactive, helping to build a habit. Therefore, every time you clean your hands with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub, the WHO technique is automatic.

Training records
All of the SureWash devices link to SureWash.Net, an audited training record for both internal use and external inspections. Subsequently, if your facility has multiple SureWash units, it provides you the ability to automate and aggregate data.
In addition, reports can be focused down to an individual level or by department. This enables administrators to evaluate user assessments, pass rates, pose scores etc., and even create a competition between departments. Above all, SureWash.Net provides in-depth analytics from your desktop to help administrators review the overall standard of hand hygiene and infection control knowledge within a facility.
